CLEAs

Our proprietary CLEA^® Technology is a very efficient and attractive method to immobilize enzymes. Since there is no added solid support the final preparation is basically pure protein, with a very high concentration of enzyme per unit volume. Thus, Cross-linked Enzyme Aggregates (CLEAs), are highly active and eminently reusable biocatalysts.

The many advantages of CLEAs:

• The technology is straightforward and widely applicable to many different enzymes.
• The method can be carried out both with pure and crude enzyme preparations.
• Separation and re-use is relatively simple which results in lower production costs.
• CLEAs are robust biocatalysts with increased stability towards heat, organic solvents and proteolysis
• The enzyme does not dissolve in an aqueous environment (no ‘leaching').
• Combination CLEAs, containing two or more enzymes, are relatively simple to produce.
